Before use, this edible paper is dipped in water to make it soft and pliable before filling and rolling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The process of making <strong>rice paper <\/strong>starts by grinding rice into rice flour. This flour is mixed with water and a pinch of salt to form a thin batter. Nowadays, tapioca starch is also often added for extra elasticity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This batter is then spread on flat surfaces, such as hot metal plates, steam baskets or narrow stretchers of <strong>coarsely woven bamboo<\/strong>, to create thin sheets. As a result, the rice sheets often have a diamond pattern. After drying, the sheets are cut to the desired size and are ready for use in various dishes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rice paper is naturally <strong>gluten-free and vegan-friendly<\/strong>, making it increasingly popular nowadays. These are very similar to ordinary spring rolls, but instead of being deep-fried, they are usually steamed or ready-made and thus eaten cold. But how do you get started? To process the rice paper, you must first soak it briefly so it becomes supple and sticky. This works as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Place the sheets one by one in a flat dish filled with lukewarm water. Soak them for 10 to 40 seconds until they are soft.
